Lors de ma thèse, je développe un ensemble d’algorithme visant à détecter automatiquement des communautés d’intérêts sur base des contenus lus par les utilisateurs. Elle a débouché sur plusieurs projets de recherche qui visait à développer la plate-forme GALILEI (dont j’étais le principal contributeur).

Je me suis aussi spécialisé dans les techniques d’optimisation basées sur les algorithmes génétiques, dont j’ai adapté le principe à plusieurs problèmes :

• Deux adaptations des Grouping Genetic Algorithms (GGA) pour le partitionnement d’objets pour lesquels une mesure de similarité existe : le Similarity-based Grouping Genetic Algorithm (SGGA) et le Nearest Neighbors Grouping Genetic Algorithm (NNGGA).
• Les Hierarchical Generic Algorithms (HGA), un algorithme génétique capable de construire une hiérarchie d’objets, chaque objet étant représenté par une liste d’attributs. Le HGA a été appliqué pour la construction semi-automatique de thésaurus.
• Les 2D Genetic Algorithms (2D-GA), une famille d’algorithmes génétiques capables de placer une série d’objets sur une surface donnée. Les 2D-GA ont été utilisés lors d’un projet de recherche visant à placer des composants électronique de manière optimale sur une puce de silicium.

Ces différents algorithmes ainsi que la plate-forme GALILEI font partie de plusieurs projets open source (en C++ et Python) disponibles sur GitHub.
